OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1960, Waldron’s Antique Exhaust has
served over 40,000 vintage car owners, restorers and
exhaust installers! Our products are sold both by Waldron’s
through our web store and via telephone as well as several
national catalogs, other web stores, whole sellers and
retailers. Waldron’s Antique Exhaust has a global
customer base. Currently, we are one of Michigan’s
fastest growing small businesses.
In September 2006 Joe Tonietto purchased the company
from the founder Burt Waldron. Joe has over 30 years
of Manufacturing and Engineering experience in the auto
industry and brings significant tooling and process
skills to Waldron’s. He is a long time auto enthusiast,
currently restoring a 1968 GTO that will share garage
space with his 1969 Firebird and 1971 GTO – at
least until the next project car follows him home! Joe
has installed Waldron’s DCE™ and VOE-2™
mufflers (Driver Controlled Exhaust) on both GTOs, the
Firebird and his daily driver, a 2008 GMC Sierra and
greatly enjoys driving them. Joe has owned and restored
several cars over the past 35 years ranging from a 1957
Corvette to a 1976 El Dorado, and he knows first hand
how difficult it can be to find quality parts at reasonable
prices. Joe will continue to add new and unique offerings
to the product line-up while maintaining Waldron’s
high quality and historically competitive prices.
Since 2006, Waldron’s has added the web store
and eBAY sales. Waldron’s began advertising in
Hemmings Motor News in 1965 and is one of Hemmings’
oldest continuous advertisers! Waldron’s advertises
in a number of magazines and web pages. We are especially
proud of the various car club pages that reference us
or have links to our web page. Waldron’s expanded
the product line-up through the 1980’s as those
products are now considered “antiques.”
In the spring of 2007, Waldron’s Antique Exhaust
caught the eye of Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage through
our Hemmings Motor News advertisement. Waldron’s
made a stainless steel exhaust system for Jay Leno’s
1951 Hudson Hornet. Jay Leno personally called the shop
and invited Waldron’s out to do a web video to
be featured on Jay Leno’s Garage web site. See
the link on the Waldron’s home
page.
Waldron’s Antique Exhaust has been contacted
by people asking us to recreate products that have been
unavailable for many years. These products include the
award winning DCE™ and VOE-2™ mufflers (Driver
Controlled Exhaust), the Mustang High Performance “K”
code Arvinode mufflers, the Corvette Off Road Mufflers
option code N11, the 66-67 Ford 7L Dual Exhaust System
and the 60-61 Dodge/Plymouth/DeSoto Ram Induction Dual
Exhaust System. See the links on our home
page for more details. We are grateful to the help
and support we have received from the customers who
provided parts and drawings.
Waldron’s products have been getting great press.
Recent magazines with a article about Waldron’s
products include MuscleCar Enthusiast, Pontiac Enthusiast,
Rod & Custom Magazine and HOTROD & Restoration.
Our owner, Joe Tonietto was on the speaker panel at
the 2008 GTOAA International Meet at Saratoga Springs,
New York.
In the summer 2008, Waldron’s relocated to a
renovated 1920’s era manufacturing building that
was originally a Ford Dealership at 208 West Main Street
in Centreville, Michigan. We have moved all of our patterns
for pipes and mufflers, weld fixtures and NOS. Those
patterns – THOUSANDS of parts - together with
our late-model dimensional database, allow us to manufacture
components to fit most domestic cars and trucks built
from 1909 through the 1980’s.
With the move behind us, we are realizing the benefits
of more space. Waldron’s remains committed to
being the preferred source for “Complete Exhaust
Systems, Mufflers, Resonators, Pipes & Custom-Built
Mufflers for Cars & Trucks: 1909—1980’s”.
Joe Tonietto and the team at Waldron’s continue
to implement lean / synchronous manufacturing processes
to guarantee that you receive a quality system in a
timely manner at a competitive price.
Our founder, Burt Waldron is currently enjoying retirement
in Michigan with his wife and family. Burt began manufacturing
exhaust systems for vintage cars and trucks in Nottawa,
Michigan in 1960. He procured "patterns" for
exhaust pipes, Y pipes, H pipes, mufflers and tailpipes
from a number of sources including "take-offs"
from customer vehicles and swap meets. He purchased
old stock inventory from other manufacturers, dealer
inventories from muffler shops and distributors. During
this time, Waldron’s primary sales avenue was
swap meets. Customers began calling the shop to place
new orders and giving referrals to friends. We are grateful
to Burt for the excellent business reputation he provided
and wish him and his wife a long and happy retirement.
About our products
When you order an exhaust system from Waldron’s
we verify your vehicle information and confirm the appropriate
exhaust configuration for your application. We use the
“patterns” to verify that the parts we manufacture
are accurate reproductions of the original equipment.
We can provide a duplicate of the original, factory
exhaust system for nearly every domestically produced
passenger car or light truck built between 1909 and
1989. In most cases, we can also provide kits to convert
from single to dual exhaust systems and IMPOSTOR™
low-restriction mufflers that can enhance sound and
performance while maintaining original, stock appearance.
When you order a complete system from us, we verify
all interfaces (pipe to manifold, pipe to muffler, etc)
to ensure your system fits together as designed. We
can also provide “oversize” pipes for many
vehicles; please call us to discuss oversize requirements.
Our standard pipes and mufflers are manufactured using
long-lasting aluminized steel. We also offer T409 stainless
steel pipes and mufflers for nearly every application.
We also have thousands of “new old stock”
(NOS) pipes and mufflers that are made of carbon steel
or galvanized steel.
For the traditional hot rod sound, we offer Glasspacks
in 9” to 48” lengths that represent a budget-conscious
approach to performance mufflers. They sound great and
won't break down in a few months like some of the products
that have been available in the past.
We also supply high-quality reproductions of discontinued
items like transverse dual exhaust mufflers for mid-60's
GM vehicles, one-piece Ford Model A systems and complete
packages for hard-to-find exhaust systems like those
under Ford “retractables” or early classics
like Packard, Auburn, Pierce and Marmon. Feel free to
order directly from our website at www.waldronexhaust.com
or call us TOLL FREE at (800) 503-9428. Give us a call;
we know how proud you are of your vehicles and we would
be happy to talk to you about what we can do for your
latest project!
